Review

This is the smallest in the Viper bait boat range.  It’s bigger brother, the MK3, has a much bigger hopper (2.5k compared to 1kg). So, is this boat just another small fish, swimming in a sea of bigger fish? The answer is “No”, this boat excels.

The Viper Icon bait boat has everything else that the larger MK3 has; quick agile turning, jet propulsion and all the Viper accessories, but it costs £250 less. Now, I know the extra large hopper is ideal, but if you are looking to save some money this boat is a great option.  I personally have this boat and the 1KG hopper has always been fine.  It does mean that I have to run a few extra trips, but the price for this boat compared to it’s competitors in the same field is ideal.

Changing the battery on this boat is very simple, and viper sell a solar panel charger, which means while battery is in the boat, another can be charging for free. The jet propulsion system for this boat works extremely well, you can easily turn the bait boat however you want it, and get it to the exact point on the lake you like.  Also the surface disturbance is the lowest out of any bait boats we have seen which means you stand less chance of scaring the fish away.

There is a hole underneath the Viper where you can easily attach the sensor for a wireless fish finder.  This lets you hunt down the fish with sonar, so you know you are always fishing in the right spot.

Verdict (Recommended Buy)

PRO’s: Best technology for price point.  Unique propulsion system and good for night fishing.  Durable with good UK support for accessories and replacements. Best value bait boat in price range.

CON’s: Hopper is not as big as the more expensive MK3 which can mean more trips.
